You must have at one time or another asked yourself :
What really is the purpose of living?
I too have asked myself this one question and the conclusion I came up with is simple:
To find true happiness.
Yes, we all experience some degree of happiness in our daily lives but the kind of happiness I describe is one many of us have yet to realize.
I'm talking about the kind of happiness you can only find within yourself; one that can't be taken away from you no matter what the circumstances. This way of looking at life is a hug revolution. Sure, you may think pursuing certain material things such as money or fame has to be the answer to the emptiness you may feel inside, but then you see a person who has already attained these things still feeling the same emptiness that was there before.
How do you finish this seemingly unending pursuit to find happiness? The answer is you don't seek an end because true happiness is a constant work in progress. It's about facing the many personal challenges that you face in daily life and conquering them one by one. You see, it isn't something to you left behind yesterday, and neither something that will be had tomorrow; it stands right before you now in the present.
As human beings we are meant to work, to serve, to strive to meet our goals. It is only when we accept this fundamental aspect of human nature can we begin to realize the satisfaction life has to offer. Instead of wishing we didn't have to work and all our problems would go away, we should seek to better ourselves in our weakest areas by facing them head on; by rising to our challenges and not stopping until we have overcome them.
We're all different and we all struggle with different things; therefore there is no one size fits all robe of happiness. Look into the areas that need improvement within you. Since happiness is something that emulates from within, the sadness you may feel will loom over you like a dark cloud until the filth that plagues you is swept away. Even if you were somehow able to get millions of miles away from certain problems, those problems will only be there waiting for you when you get back.
Facing your challenges is not easy and will never be easy, but if everything was easy what would make succeeding so great. Your success doesn't even have to be something hugely significant. It could just be something like losing those first 5 lbs. or completing one phase of project you've been working on. Every small success builds up to become one huge success.
Just remember, your happiness entirely depends on you and no one else. From this very moment on, seek to continually advance internal growth and begin experiencing the fulfilling happiness that each one of us is capable of achieving.
